Donation to Friends of Lymington Hospital
We were delighted that to mark our 75th Anniversary Year, we were able to present them with equipment that they needed at the Hospital.
Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC)
The scales in the Dexa department were difficult to use for elderly patients. The Marsden column digital scales with a digital height measure and a safety frame now provide patients with a safe experience when they are being weighed and measured, prior to their bone density scan. The scales are also ‘future compliant’ whereby the information of the patient’s weight and height will be automatically added to the patient’s notes when the new IT system is introduced at the hospital.

Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
The Marsden column digital scales with a digital height measure enables the calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI). This is useful placed in the paediatric room. Doses of medication for children are based a lot on weight and their usual scales suffice. However, for every contact of a child in a clinical setting, it is recommended to take the opportunity to record height, weight and BMI. This data is not only useful for the UTC, but useful when it is shared with the patient's own GP via our consultation notes. This then goes on the record with us and the usual GP surgery and helps to build up an accurate trajectory of growth, development and health for that child. If there are issues with faltering growth, then this can be picked up much more easily by the clinician rather than just using weight as the only measure. The scales are also ‘future compliant’ whereby the information of the patient’s weight and height will be automatically added to the patient’s notes when the new IT system is introduced at the hospital

Donation to Friends of Lymington Hospital
We were delighted that to mark our 75th Anniversary Year, we were able to present them with a cheque for £2550 to cover the cost of two pieces of equipment that they needed at the Hospital.
They are a weight and height measurer for the Radiology DEXA department (£1925) and a set of Marsden column digital scales (£625) with a digital height measure that enables the calculation of body mass index for the paedetatric room as doses of medication for children are based a lot on weight.

Basics Bank
Presentation on Thursday 8th December of £500 was presented to Mr Ollie Stanley Manager for New Forest Basic Banks at the Lymington Hub by Rotary Club of Lymington.
Everyone was very busy preparing and filling food box’s ready for collection by volunteers delivery drivers. Demands has increased during different economic times and now during this very cold winter spell, but the staff remained positive and enthusiastic with their increased work load.
Donation of food items unfortunately has reduced but hopefully this cheque of £500 will help during this Christmas period.

Litter Pick New Forest
11 of us met at 10 on Sat 22 Oct at Setley Pond and Sue as usual had coffee and cake ready for us which is always much appreciated. The weather was kind after a very wet day the day before and forecasts of lots more foul weather during the following days, so we were lucky. We had heard reports that the Forest was being enthusiastically litter picked by over 1700 volunteers and that there was little rubbish around, but the car parks tended to be the worst areas. We therefore decided to split up in pairs with each pair covering several car parks in a designated area. This worked pretty well with some gathering larger hauls of rubbish than others but we all got some exercise. Afterwards we all gathered at the Filly Inn for lunch and everyone enjoyed the occasion.
Shoeboxes
This year we asked five local schools to participate in the District Xmas Shoe Box scheme for two reasons. One being the economic situation at present for families and secondly the lack of a large space to sort and pack the filled shoe boxes into cartons. The response has been good from the schools and also we have been supported by friends, families and Rotarians. We will be able to send circa 200 boxes
Priestlands Rotary Awards
This presentation that took place at Priestlands School last Friday 22 July. These pupils are the prizewinners who were presented with cups and shields at the Prize Giving Assembly. These were presented as the Rotary prizes as we had engraved all the cups and shields that were presented on the day. This has become a long term support for the school, which Lymington Rotary are very pleased to be connected with for all categories of prizes
